Zambian prisons, like those of most African nations, are characterized by overcrowding, malnutrition, disease, insufficient medical services and violence. Many prisoners living under these terrible conditions have not even been convicted of a crime; it is common for an individual to spend years awaiting trial. Amidst this suffering, there is a tremendous need for hope.
Gilbert Mutale Mwamba is another SC director familiar with the turn to and departure from a life of crime, as well as the trials and injustice of the prison system in his country. Driven by the knowledge of Christ secured during his incarceration, he now leads CBI Zambia. Director Mwamba and his dedicated team members, many of whom were also prisoners before coming to know Christ, now personally enter the prisons to share their testimonies and offer hope through both physical and spiritual assistance.
Many lives in our prisons will be transformed through the Bible study lessons.
