CBI Kenya Director Jefferson Kabiro Gathu also serves as director of Cistern Materials Translation and Publishing Center, an organization that provides Christian literature for native tribes of Kenya and other parts of Africa. Supported by an enthusiastic and dedicated group of Instructors, Director Gathu and his ministry team bring the CBI program to several key prisons. As in other developing nations, they not only hand-deliver the Bible study lessons and letters of discipleship to the students but also provide inmates with basic necessities. CBI Kenya seeks to continue growing its outreach as it receives permission to enter other facilities in Kenya and plans to implement a reentry assistance program.
Imprisoned people have heavy burdens of loneliness, guilt, bitterness, depression or confusion. We want inmates to know that they are capable, appreciated and doing a good job.
Samuel Chege, CBI Kenya assistant director
